All natural Septarian calcite spheres approximately 1 1/4 inches in diameter in 2 sphere lots scooped from spheres as pictured,,,each winner will receive 2 spheres together with 2 acrylic ring stands,,, made from a calcite filled septarian nodule or concretion mined in Utah with yellow and root-beer calcite in unique patterns. Septarian concretions or nodules, are concretions containing angular cavities or cracks, which are called septaria,, from the Latin word septum or partition, and refers to the cracks/separations in this kind of rock. The process that created these cracks remains a mystery. A number of mechanisms, like the dehydration of clay-rich, gel-rich, or organic-rich cores; shrinkage of the concretion's center; expansion of gases produced by the decay of organic matter; brittle fracturing or shrinkage of the concretion interior by either earthquakes or compaction; and others, have been proposed for the formation of cracks. However in the case of these Utah nodule its clear that calcite filled these cracks and left us beautiful rocks.
