Estate find Pinctada margaritifera, commonly known as the black lipped Pearl oyster or Tahitian peal oyster, is a species of saltwater mollusk found in the Indo-Pacific region. It belongs to the family Pteriidae and is highly valued for its beautiful black pearls. The black lipped Pearl oyster has a large and thick shell with a distinctive black out lip, the inner part of the shell is composed of layer of nacre, the same material that forms pearls. Rare Pinctafa Margaritifera are not easy to find on the web, and their polished shell also become increasingly rare.
